Orange, located west of the Blue Mountains and a 50-minute flight west of Sydney, is one of Australia’s most exciting and food and wine destinations.

Known as ‘Australia’s Food Basket’, the region is a haven of vineyard-dotted hills and abundant stonefruit and orchards. The combination of high altitude, a cool climate and rich volcanic soil create prime conditions for growing grapes, cherries, peaches, plums, apples, figs, quinces, truffles and so much more.

In recent years a large number of vineyards have been planted in the area resulting in boutique wineries making a variety of wines including award-winning chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, shiraz and cabernet sauvignon.

On this relaxing tour, escorted by Explore Your Backyard director Karen Platzer and local guides, you’ll enjoy autumn colours and delicious food and wines and warm Australian hospitality.

  • Learn why the region is one of Australia’s most exciting and food and wine destinations
  • Discover Indigenous food culture and try genuine bush tucka with a local Indigenous guide.
  • Taste locally produced cheese, dips, meat, pate, olives, bread and locally grown fruit.
  • Hear stories from Orange’s colourful past and learn about the region’s culinary history.
